Privacy policy
This site is operated by Adrián Criado, based in Madrid, Spain. You can reach me athello@certifiedspecs.com about anything on this page.
The short version
There is no login, no account, no form and no newsletter. The site sets no cookies and loads no advertising script. The only third-party code is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. The site does not ask you for personal information. Like any website, though, the servers that deliver it process technical data such as your IP address, and an email you send me reaches me with your address on it. All three are described below.
What reaches the servers
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver each page and to protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes what every browser sends with a request: your IP address, the address of the page requested (including anything after the ?), your browser type, the referring page and the time. Cloudflare acts as my hosting provider and processor for this, keeps technical logs and aggregate traffic statistics, and applies its own retention periods. See the Cloudflare privacy policy. My reason for this processing is running and securing the site (legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Visit statistics
To know which pages are read and where readers come from, every page loads a small script from Cloudflare, Cloudflare Web Analytics. When the page loads, it reports to Cloudflare the page address, the page that linked to it and how long the page took to load and become usable. As with any request, Cloudflare also receives your IP address and browser type, from which the report shows country, browser, operating system and device type.

?, does not fingerprint visitors through their IP address, browser or other data, and does not track individuals across sites. - I see totals only: page views, visits, referring sites, countries, browsers and load times. Cloudflare keeps the detailed data for 7 days, then aggregates it, and shows the last six months.
My reason is learning which pages are useful (legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). If your browser or an extension blocks the script, nothing else changes. I also read the reports search engines give site owners (Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools), which describe searches and pages, not individual visitors.
The calculator
The arithmetic in the running cost tool happens in your browser. To look up a model it downloads public certification data from this site, the same files for everyone.
What you choose — the equipment models, a certificate number, your state, the rate and heat demand you type — is written into the page address, so that copying it gives a link that reproduces the result. That address is sent to the server whenever it is loaded: when you reload the page, open a shared link, or arrive with one. So those figures can appear in the technical logs described above, next to your IP address. They are equipment details and numbers you entered, not your name or contact details, but do not type anything personal into the fields. If you share such a link, you share those figures with whoever you send it to.

Mail sent to hello@certifiedspecs.com is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail inbox, so Cloudflare and Google process it on its way to me. I keep your email so I can reply and, where you have reported an error, so I can document the correction. I do not add you to any list. Ask me to delete the correspondence and I will.
Advertising: prepared, switched off
The site has the plumbing for display advertising in place, but it is disabled. No advertising script is loaded, no ad space is reserved and no ads.txt file is published, because there is no advertising account behind it. You can check that last one yourself: /ads.txt returns "not found".
If that changes, this page will be updated before the first ad is served: which companies are involved, which cookies they set and why, how to opt out, and — for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform, shown before any personalised ad. I will not quietly start tracking you.
Your rights
Because I am established in Spain, the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies to this site regardless of where you are reading from. You have the right to ask what personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its processing and to complain to a supervisory authority — in Spain, theAgencia Española de Protección de Datos. The technical logs are held by Cloudflare and are not linked to your name; the personal data I am likely to hold myself is an email you chose to send me.

Pages link to official sources such as the EPA, the EIA and the AHRI directory. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you follow the link.
Children
This site is aimed at adults making decisions about heating and cooling equipment. It is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone knowingly.
Changes
When what the site processes changes, this page changes first and the date above moves with it.
